At a full 10 inches wider than our large rope hammocks and with a weight limit of 450 pounds, our Presidential model means you can likely pile the whole family in if you want to!
This Cadillac version of our cotton-rope classic is the very reason we make all of our rust-resistant zinc-plated hanging hardware so much larger and heavier than other hammock manufacturers do. The brunt of a hammock’s stress falls on its chains and other hardware, so this hammock comes with hardware that’s equally oversized, and overly tough, as well.
DuraCord® Rope: Solution-dyed synthetic blend rope that balances the softness of cotton with the durability of polyester. This combination makes the rope All-Weather proof and resistant to rot, mold, and mildew.
Oak Spreader Bar: Oak is naturally resistant to rot and insect infestation. The spreader bars are repeatedly hand-dipped in honey-gold marine-grade varnish for exceptional look and longer outdoor life.
Double-Latch Weave: Individual ropes pull against each other to produce a lattice-like design, thus eliminating the need for knots within the rope bed itself. We use 15% more rope than most of our competitors.
Zinc Plated Hardware: We plate all our hanging hardware, with zinc to protect against rust and ensure an overall longer outdoor life.
Handcrafted in the Carolinas: Manufactured and assembled using the finest parts and industry leading techniques.
All hail the mighty spreader bar! Possibly the greatest innovation of Original Pawleys Island founder Joshua John “Cap’n Josh” Ward, this compact wooden beam handsomely frames both ends of the classic American hammock. But it also does so much more!
With our family-size Presidential hammock, you fully appreciate the crucial role of these hole-drilled bars of warmly varnished oak. Even as the hammock’s ropes gently cocoon directly around your reclining body, that pair of spreaders holds this oversize beauty open wide, so you never feel uncomfortably confined. Instead, the sense is one of supreme support, yet with the freedom to just roll around and wallow. And let’s face it, a little wallowing is just plain good for ya now and then!
